Fellow fighters (update #2)

Wanted to give an update on how some of these dear friends have been doing. We’ve all been keeping in touch as well as in prayer.

Please continue to keep them and their families in your continued prayers. Thank you. I am blessed to know these fellow fighters. Their courage and perseverance despite and in the midst of setbacks have been an inspiration to me.

Tabitha

We praise God that Tabby’s labs miraculously returned to normal levels a few weeks ago! And she was finally able to return to school which she was so excited about. But she was even more happy that she didn’t have to do any more blood draws for another few weeks. We are so thankful for God's healing work in her in His time. Tabby was such a trooper through this trial as well as her sister Deborah and her parents, Dan and Judie. Please continue to pray for her complete healing and full recovery.

In her journey and in all of ours, we are reminded of the frailty of life but also that God is still sovereignly in control. Our lives are in His good hands and He was and is constantly working even when we don’t realize or forget.

Trent

We praise God for His faithful and healing work in Trent. After several long months in Philly and many visits to HUP most recently for a month for his Car-T therapy, Trent and his precious family were finally able to go home to Kansas! πŸ€— I’m sure he and his wife Kayla never identified so much with Dorothy from the Wizard of Oz to exclaim that “there’s no place like home”! πŸ‘ πŸ‘

Praise God that Trent’s most recent bone marrow biopsy showed no sign of disease meaning that he is is remission!! πŸ™ Please continue to pray for Trent as he has struggled since he’s returned home with his low blood levels and also having caught the flu.

Ron

I’ve had the joy of seeing and reconnecting with Ron as he’s also admitted here at HUP on the same floor as me right now. Unfortunately, the immunotherapy treatment he was on did not work for him, and during his previous admission, he coded 3 times thankfully though while he was here in the hospital! So he is now awaiting to begin CAR-T therapy and will be admitted for that on 3/25, the same day as me. ☺️. So looking forward to seeing each other again in several weeks as we tackle our next respective battles! πŸ’ͺ  Despite further issues with his left arm and right leg, he still puts me to shame with his lap frequency and gives me motivation to keep walking myself! πŸƒ‍♂️

Soo

It was also so nice to see Soo again yesterday as she was here working. She has recovered well from her surgery and is planning to start her radiation later this month.  Please continue to pray for her as well as her family as they press on in faith with this journey ahead. We are committed to fight together for our families and have been encouraging each other through God’s Word and prayer! πŸ™

Mary Lou

Mary Lou has been though many ups and downs this past month. Most recently, she is recovering from surgery from a neck cyst resection which had to be done to prevent potential infection especially prior to bone marrow transplant in the future. Please pray for her WBC and platelet levels to increase but for her blast count to be held at bay. Mary Lou is a valiant fighter and her perseverance and perspective through her trials has been an inspiration to me.

Chung “Mrs Oh”

In my most recent blog post, I shared about seeing Mrs. Oh the other day after over 30 years! ☺️ She is so sweet. And her organizational skills are amazing! She showed me all of the ways she has kept track of her treatments in her notes and organizers. (Not a bad idea to have hard copies as I keep all my notes on my phone!) We have enjoyed encouraging each other through the Word and songs of praise. But I’ve benefitted most from Mrs. Oh’s practical tips as she’s navigated these cancer waters for many years and has garnered much practical wisdom and experience. Please keep her in prayer for full recovery from this recent blood sepsis as well as for her levels to increase esp. her low platelets which has caused her to have some nosebleeds. In the midst of her current struggles, she has been reaching out to encourage me.

Mrs. Oh has decided at this time to hold off on aggressive chemo. She has defied all odds and has even surprised her providers by her progress and fight over these last years earning her the nickname from her doc of Mighty Mouse. Please, please keep her in prayer in this next season. She is a true fighter in faith.
