When it rains, it pours

As you may remember, my dear niece Tabitha had battled acute liver failure this past January. And now this past week, we received bombshell news that she has leukemia. Obviously, words cannot describe the utter sadness that has come upon us. It’s one thing to go through this myself but to see my youngest niece have to endure this is heartbreaking. Yet, we will press on day by day with the strength and faith that God provides.

The steadfast love of the Lord never ceases; his mercies never come to an end; they are new every morning; great is your faithfulness. “The Lord is my portion,” says my soul, “therefore I will hope in him.”
‭‭(Lamentations‬ ‭3:22-24‬)

A dear old friend reminded us that God will sustain us daily with His new mercies every morning as he pointed out that the verses of Lamentations 3:22-24 come in the middle of the book, not at the end, in the midst of severe trials, not when they’re complete... a reminder that God is present and in control, even in our suffering.

Please keep Tabby, her sister, and her parents in prayer. They are not alone in this battle. I pray that my own fight could give her hope and inspiration, and that Tabby would always know that she has an uncle that loves her and understands. This is the fight of our lives, but we’re in each other’s corner cheering each other on.

Please also remember Ryan as his transplant is today. Please specifically pray for:
  • Ryan's immunity system to completely shut down
  • Ryan's body to accept the stem cells with minimal side effects
  • Ryan's donor's immunity system to take over his body to produce healthy blood cells and recognize any residual leukemia and destroy it
  • Ryan to mentally stay strong and lean on his family, friends, and God to help him get through
  • All of those helping Ryan through this amazing process (doctors, nurses, aides, and the incredible people who work behind the scenes)

Lastly, I met with my oncologist yesterday and he said that the plan for my postponed transplant is still on for the beginning of June depending on how things transpire in the coming month. And prior to then, I have one more cycle of chemo scheduled to begin in the coming week. We still haven’t heard back regarding insurance approval to do it at home. If not approved, then we will have to do it in the hospital as usual.

Thank you so much for your prayers and loving support through this storm. As I write this post, the rain is pouring down...

...I will send down showers in season; there will be showers of blessing.
‭‭(Ezekiel‬ ‭34:26‬)

  1. Yes, it was such a shocking heartbreaking news about Tabitha. I couldn't believe it. Can't imagine all that the Hyun family is going through. Will continue to pray for you guys. Also, praying that Ryan's transplant procedure goes well today... may the Lord shower down his blessing on him and those helping him through this.
