Last week, we had an unforgettable surprise drive-by visit from my rehab family from Shriners. I call them family as they were more than co-workers. We’ve been through so much together from the births of our children to the passing of our loved ones. Through the ups and downs of life, we had many celebrations as well as grieved deeply at times over the years... together as a family. This is what I’ll miss the most about the Shrine. Such a special place because of the special people who work there.  😌 When I think of Shriners, I’m often reminded of the old TV show  Cheers .  The theme song from the show well depicts how it felt to work there: Sometimes you wanna go Where everybody knows your name And they're always glad you came You wanna be where you can see Our troubles are all the same You wanna be where everybody knows your name My family had never done a professional outdoor photo shoot but thought this would be a special year to do one considering all we have been t...

Fellow fighters update #6

Thank you for keeping these dear friends in prayer as they fight their respective cancer battles. We praise God for His sustaining grace. Maria Let me introduce you to Maria, a dear friend from my old church. She has been battling a condition with her kidneys but then was recently diagnosed with myelodysplastic syndrome (MDS), a condition which disrupts the blood-forming cells in the bone marrow. She will need a bone marrow transplant and just found out that one of her sisters is a donor match... praise God!  🙏  But please pray as Maria has a chromosomal mutation which means that they’ll have to make sure that her sister doesn’t have it before they can proceed. Also because of her mutation, she needs to do the transplant sooner that later, as early as January or February Lord-willing. Please pray for courage, faith, and strength for Maria as well as her parents who have recently come to Philly to help her. This will be a difficult journey but I’ve been so encouraged by Maria’...

2020 has been such a unique and crazy year for us all. As our elections take place, our nation is sadly in upheaval and divided in many ways. We continue to struggle with racial inequality and injustice. In my own city of Philadelphia, we grieve another loss of life as Walter Wallace Jr was fatally shot by police and the resulting civil unrest.   And Covid has impacted every aspect of our lives. Sadly, our loved ones have suffered or lost their lives due this pandemic. Our jobs and livelihood have been put in jeopardy esp. those in small businesses. Many of us who have been able to work have done so from home and our kids have been doing school on-line. Meetings and activities have been held virtually. And we are Zoomed out.  🥺 Events such as concerts and sports were cancelled or postponed, not only on a local and national level, but all throughout the world including the 2020 Summer Olympics. The NBA was played in “a bubble”. The NFL creeps on week to week with changes in th...
